Hello!
I’m Jessica, a designer, dressmaker and costumier based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Historical costuming, particularly dress of the 18th century and Regency are my specialty!
I studied Art History at the University of Queensland, Australia and University of Leeds, UK followed by Theatre Costume at Edinburgh College. Upon completing my studies, I worked in the costume department of the Royal National Theatre in London.
Between 2017-2019 I made a career detour into the art world and worked at Sotheby’s New York in 19th century European paintings. Inspired by the artworks I had the privilege to work alongside, I returned to costuming because what I enjoy most is creating the garments depicted in them.
Since returning to Edinburgh, I have made costumes for individuals attending prestigious events at Château de Versailles, Venice Carnival and re-enactments. I have also worked with heritage organisations such as National Trust for Scotland's Georgian House and Dalkeith Palace and dance companies such as Covent Garden Minuet Company and Edinburgh Quadrille Society.
I also work in the costume department for photoshoots, film/tv and theatre. Last year I had the privilege of working on the Dior Cruise Collection and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
I am open to commissions, collaborations and work for theatre and film and can also undertake research for projects. My personal collection of costumes is also available for hire. If you would like to discuss a project, please get in touch using my contact page.
